It’s the time of year again to start budgeting for Christmas gifts and the only person harder to shop for than your father-in-law is the toddler who “already has that.” Oof! Are you ready to find a gift they will love even on a budget? No more shelling out for a Barbie Dream House or battery powered Jeep. These gifts are small, don’t make noise, and are sure to be played with again and again!
1. Finger Lights
If I could suggest only one toy to buy a toddler this Christmas it would be these. My son was gifted these for Christmas as a one year old and loved them. We spent many dark winter evenings as a family turning the lights off, music up, and dancing together! Kids love lights and parents love tired out kiddos! Plus, “Old MacDonald had a Farm” gets a whole lot more exciting when you’re living room is a rave! This set comes with 10 of each color. You could easily make these a group gift for all the grandchildren or nieces and nephews!
**These can be a choking hazard so keep them away from mouths
2. Bath Letters
Bath Letters are the quintessential bath toy. Learn letters, learn colors, or just stick them to the wall and your face! Bath letters take up very little space and are sure to be used at nearly every bath time.
3. Play-Doh
Play-doh inspires creativity and is most enjoyed by a child when they play with an imaginative adult. Consider this gift a present to both you and your favorite toddler! Spend time making fake food, dinosaurs, and flowers. use Christmas cookie cutters for even more fun!
4. Sensory Tubes
Okay, these do make a little noise, but it’s not bad! These tubes are so easy to travel with for long car rides or to bring along to doctors appointments. Scrunch them up, pull them apart, or connect each one together to make necklaces and bracelets! I’ve also found this same product by a different brand at the Walmart check-out.
5. Stacking Cups
Stacking cups are usually marketed toward older babies 9-18 months but I’ve found that these can be enjoyed for a much longer age range if you have some imagination! These cups stack to make towers or nestle together. They are great for learning colors, counting, and pretend tea parties in the tub!
6. Water Wow
This is one of my favorite toddler Christmas gifts for under $10! Water Wow comes in a variety of different themes for either boys or girls and is another great toy for traveling or sitting quietly in church. This toy uses only water to reveal a colored picture with no mess and can be reused over and over!
7. Apron
Aprons are truly one of the most adorable things a toddler can wear. Aprons as presents pair well with quality time. Gift this with a coupon to bake a favorite recipe with you will automatically become the toddlers favorite aunt, uncle, or grandparent!
8. Window Clings
If you’ve ever wondered, “how can I get my patio door decorated and get a toddler to learn their animal noises at the same time?” then these window clings are for you! Window clings are great for independent play or educational play with an adult. Plus, they don’t take up much space for storage when you’re ready to rotate them out for other toys!
9. Puzzles
Simple wooden puzzles are great for developing motor skills, patience, and learning shapes! Puzzles with knobs on each piece work best for chunky little hands. These take up very little space and can be played with quietly on their own or with an engaged adult!
10. Quality Time
If there’s on thing toddlers universally love it’s attention. Babysitting them or offering to play with them while the other adults are just sitting and talking will always win you points and the best part is it’s absolutely free!
